Monitoreo Vaquita (Vaquita Monitoring) is a local group of fishermen from San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico who have collaborated with Mexican and international scientists and institutions. Since 2010, they have consistently supported the acoustic monitoring program for vaquita within the Vaquita Refuge and the Protected Natural Area of the Biosphere Reserve of the Upper Gulf of California.
VIVA Vaquita is very much pro-fishermen, and wants to help those willing to be a part of the solution. Therefore, we wholeheartedly support this effort! These are true environmental heros. Help Monitoreo Vaquita to raise awareness at Mexican and American schools and to raise funding to contribute to conservation programs for the vaquita, such as the Acoustic Monitoring Program and The Retrieve of Ghost Gill nets from the Vaquita Refuge.
