VAQUITA NEWS & UPDATES  | April 8th, 2018

A new report from the IUCN Cetacean Specialist Group website gives the latest update on the vaquita situation in Mexico.  Unfortunately, it is not good news.  Record numbers of illegal nets are being discovered, as fishermen become more bold about flouting regulations designed to prevent the vaquita from becoming extinct (photo above shows fishing gear collected).  Another dead vaquita has been found with evidence of fishery entanglement.  More details can be found here:
